Cadagua nominated in 3 categories to the Global Water Awards

Cadagua, has been nominated to the Global Water Awards 2017, organized by the water business magazine GWI, in three categories. First nomination is as Desalination Company of Year, due to the achievement of having completed within the year 2016 a total of 5 desalination plants (Ghubrah, Al Zawrah, Jorf Lasfar, Ceuta-II y Granadilla) in very diverse countries such as Oman, UAE, Morocco and Spain.

Those plants add 336.600 m3/d to the desalinated water production total capacity of 2,000,000 m3/d that Cadagua holds in more than 40 projects built. The awards nomination panel also appreciated other Company achievements such as his commitment to the R&D and continuous innovation, demonstrated by his long term collaboration with the prestigious MIT research centre with 3 related projects, the most recent being the resource recovery of chemicals from the desalination brine.

The other two nominations are to the best Municipal Desalination Project, for the Al Ghubrah plant and to the best Industrial Desalination Project, for the Jorf Lasfar plant.

In early 2016 the Al Ghubrah SWRO plant in Muscat (Oman) passed the performance testing and started its commercial operation. The plant that uses RO technology has a capacity of 191,000 m3/day of potable water and Cadagua completed the Project successfully in a record period of time never seen before in the region.

The other nominated project was Jorf Lasfar SWRO plant in Morocco selected due to the challenge of treating seawater taken from a harbour with high industrial activity and associated pollution. The plant is equipped with a robust pretreatment including solids Screening (coarse and fine), DAF (dissolved air flotation), self-cleaning Filtration and UF membrane filtration (pressurized hollow fiber). The RO system is designed with two passes what allows various operating modes and guarantees the requested product water quality.

The Global Water Awards winners will be disclosed at the GWI Water Summit gala dinner that will take place in Madrid on the 24th of April, the most prestigious international water business market event, after an online voting process among the registered summit attendants, magazine subscriptors and IDA (International Desalination Association) members.
