Cadagua has participated in the first edition of the congress “IWA Regional Conference on Water Reuse and Salinity Management (IWARESA)” held from June 11 to 15, 2018 in Murcia, Spain.

The Conference focused on water reuse and salinity management in coastal areas and arid or semi-arid climate. The use of unconventional water sources in agriculture and their potential negative impacts, the development of new technologies for the production of high quality reclaimed water or the risk of salinization of agricultural land and groundwater are some of the issues discussed. Cadagua participated in the congress with a poster, presented by Alicia Gómez from the R + D + i department, which showed the results of the “Seawater Desalination Brine Stream Byproduct Recovery and Valorization Options” project, developed in collaboration with the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and in which the technical-economic feasibility of valorizing the brine, produced in seawater desalination plants through reverse osmosis, is evaluated through the recovery of high added value products such as Sodium hydroxide (NaOH).
