Carbon Footprint and Water Footprint in Cadagua: a step forward in the fight against climate change

The way in which the organization responds to the challenges and opportunities of climate change in the short, medium and long term is key for Cadagua. Cadagua mantains very ambitious targets for reducing emissions for 2020 and 2030 from the 2009 levels in relative terms against the net turnover business figures (tCO2eq / M €). This targets and commitments of efficient use of water and minimization of its consumption are being very comfortably fulfilled.

During 2018, the Carbon Footprint has been reduced in relative terms by 22% compared to 2017 and 66% compared to the base year. Emissions avoided have increased in absolute terms by 15% and 76% respectively.

On the other hand, in 2016, the Water Footprint data was published for the first time with a range of 100%. In addition, in that same year Ferrovial was presented for the first time to the Water category of the CDP index, obtaining the A- classification, a recognition of Ferrovial’s strategy and performance.

Cadagua contributes decisively to the sustainable management of water, compensating 88 times the Ferrovial Water Footprint, 14% more than last year. Both the waste water treatment activity and water purification activity mean an improvement in water quality; This is why we are a leaders in the use and efficient management of water.
