The Alicante SDP, which has a capacity of 65,000 m3/day, was financed, designed and built by Cadagua in 2003.

Since then, Cadagua has been responsible for operation and maintenance under a 15 year concession agreement.

Its special features include a sea water intake using catchment from deep wells (18 units) and 7 RO Racks systems fed by the same number of high-pressure pumps with energy recovery using Pelton turbines.
