The desalination plant of Valdelentisco, opened in January 2008, is on the left bank of the Rambla de Valdelentisco, between Mazarrón and Cartagena (Murcia).

With a current production capacity of 27 hm3/year, which can be increased up to 70 hm3/year in the future, this plant is one of the largest facilities of its type in the world, and supplies a part of this region via the Mancomunidad de los Canales del Taibilla, as well as the irrigation and urban network for residential and tourist use in the Campo de Cartagena.

Cadagua designed and built the facility and is now responsible for its operation and maintenance, which includes the most recent modernizations and retrofitings to optimize energy consumption using modern isobaric chamber systems.
